NVIDIA

NVIDIA is not only the first on our list of top tech companies but takes the #1 spot for best places to work in the US.

The company is a well-known software and semiconductor manufacturing company based in California. NVIDIA is particularly famous for manufacturing GPUs, designing APIs, and producing chips for mobile devices.

Not only that, the company is responsible for some of the most innovative artificial intelligence/machine learning hardware and software of any tech company in the world.

Needless to say, the company is a major player in the tech industry.

NVIDIA has over 4,500 employee reviews on Glassdoor and an incredibly high rating of 4.7/5.0 stars.

Many NVIDIA employees highlight an exceptional company culture, excellent employee benefits, and high compensation. In addition, employees routinely use cutting-edge technology in their work, and the approval of the CEO, Jensen Huang, is nearly perfect at 98%, which is not necessarily typical for a tech company of that size.

However, some reviews complain of occasionally needing to work long hours, especially for junior NVIDIA team members.

Not only that, the competition to get into the company can be fierce, like in many big tech companies.

It is also a company frequently listed as one of the best places to work, not only by Glassdoor but by the Boston Business Journal, the Boston Globe, and CNBC.

On Glassdoor, almost 2,500 employees have left reviews of the company, which currently has a rating of 4.6/5.0.

Many previous and current employees say that Hubspot gives its employees significant autonomy in pursuing meaningful work. In addition, many reviews point to an excellent culture and leadership.

According to Glassdoor reviews, co-founder and CEO Aaron Levie has received widespread approval by employees at 97%.

However, as a reasonably new company, there are some cons to working at Box. Specifically, many reviews complain that there is no 401k matching and that the cloud storage industry is incredibly competitive.

Google

Google has long been considered one of the most desirable workplaces in the entire world. Becoming a "Googler" is one of the most prestigious and sought-after positions in all tech.

In fact, the company is more competitive and selective than Harvard or MIT. It receives nearly 3 million job applications every single year.

How to Get a Google Referral
So, how do you actually get to interview with Google’s roles? The most important step you can take is getting an internal referral from a current employee at the company. Here’s a guide on how to get that referral, and why it’s so important.

That said, it should be no surprise that Google is one of the best technology companies to work for.

Google provides its staff an enormous amount of employee perks, including generous benefits, high salaries/equity, 401k and retirement plans, remote work opportunities, paid parental leave, opportunities for professional development, and more.

Not only that, employees have access to many on-campus facilities such as fitness centers, free juice bars, massage parlors, or even a doctor's office.

Some of the most talented people in tech work at Google, and many Glassdoor reviews say as much.

With over 35,000 employee reviews, Google currently has a rating of 4.5/5.0.

Nevertheless, like any workplace, Google isn't perfect. Being one of the world's biggest and most valuable tech companies, the expectations placed on employees can be pretty high. Sometimes, employees will need to work long hours under stressful workloads.

Many past employees have pointed out that Google's hierarchy is very competitive, and the management structures can be highly bureaucratic, which can make career growth challenging for some.

While it's not a tech company in the same way that Google is a tech company, the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) is still one of the best places to work as a scientist and as an engineer.

While NASA has been around for quite some time, it wasn't until this year, 2022, that the JPL made the list of Best Places to Work.

And, given the explosive growth of private space companies such as SpaceX and Blue Origin, it seems like the JPL should make our list.

If you have a passion for spaceflight, aerospace engineering, and cutting-edge technology not found anywhere else, you should consider joining the ranks of the JPL at NASA.
