Interview process
✅ It felt tough Most candidates who do well say the loop was challenging. Amazon intentionally pushes beyond your comfort zone to see how you think, not just what you know. ✅ Multiple rounds in one day is mentally exhausting By Round 3 or 4, even strong candidates start feeling tired and become more self-critical. ✅ Technical + Bar Raiser The Bar Raiser round is designed to be harder. They often: Dig deeper into your stories Challenge assumptions Ask follow-up questions repeatedly Look for ownership, tradeoffs, and decision making Test areas outside your immediate expertise So feeling that the BR round was harder does not necessarily mean it went badly.

Interview tips
I would suggest following: Many candidates spend 80% of their time on SQL. I would do: 30% SQL 30% Leadership Principles 20% Data Engineering fundamentals 20% System design / project deep dives I've seen candidates with excellent SQL struggle because they couldn't explain why they made decisions or describe tradeoffs.
Company culture
What stood out to me was how closely business impact and technical decision-making seem to be connected. The interviewers were interested not only in the technical solutions but also in the customer impact, tradeoffs, and measurable outcomes. That aligns well with how I approach my work today, where data and engineering decisions ultimately need to drive real business value.
