Interview process

The interview process consisted of two technical rounds and lasted around 5.5 hours in total. The interview started with basic questions and gradually became more challenging. The interviewers focused heavily on problem-solving ability, C++ fundamentals, data structures, memory management, and operating system concepts. For coding questions, they often started with a straightforward version of a problem and then continuously modified constraints, expecting more optimized solutions. What went well was explaining my thought process, discussing trade-offs, and solving the initial versions of the problems. What didn't go well was some of the deeper follow-up discussions around low-level system concepts and advanced optimizations, where the interviewers kept pushing for further improvements.

Interview tips

Focus on strong C++ fundamentals, especially memory management, pointers, references, STL internals, and performance considerations. Be comfortable explaining how containers like vector work internally, including capacity growth, iterator invalidation, and amortized complexity. Prepare core OS concepts such as process memory layout, virtual memory, heap vs stack, and caching. For coding rounds, don't stop after finding a working solution—be ready to discuss optimizations, edge cases, and alternative approaches. The interviewers may start with an easy problem and progressively make it harder by changing constraints, so practicing follow-up optimization discussions is important.

Company culture

The interviewers appeared highly technical and detail-oriented. They seemed interested in understanding how candidates think rather than evaluating only final answers. The discussions were challenging but focused on technical depth. There were no obvious red flags during the process. The overall atmosphere was professional, with a strong emphasis on engineering fundamentals and problem-solving ability.
