AI Engineer Intern Interview Experience

Google·Intern
It was an internship role, AI engineer. First was an online coding round on arrays and strings where I had to return a palindromic subsequence, and later they asked dynamic programming and a linked list hard question.

Interview process

I interviewed for an AI Engineer internship, but the process was mostly DSA-heavy. I had an online coding round first, then a technical round with binary tree and DP questions, then another harder DSA round with DP and linked list questions, and finally an HR round. The online round covered arrays and strings, and the later rounds got progressively more difficult. The only non-DSA part was the last round, where they asked about my projects and previous experience. I didn't share the final outcome, but the main thing that stood out to me was how coding-focused the whole process was.

Interview tips

I would prepare DSA more properly, and I would focus on revising my projects again. Also, just do the DSA and be thorough with your resume.

Company culture

My impression was that even for an AI Engineer intern role, the process was driven much more by core DSA than by AI-specific questions. Most of the evaluation seemed to come from coding rounds, and only at the end did they ask about projects and previous experience. So from what I saw, they were hiring for problem-solving fundamentals first and treating project discussion as a final check.
