Product Manager Interview Experience
One of my interviewers felt a bit more like a rainy day. They had a specific framework or pathway in mind and wanted me to go down that path, even though that’s not where I wanted to go with my solution.
Interview process
The process was pretty standard compared to what I'd read online. My first round had product sense plus analytical/execution, and the second round was the full loop with product sense, analytical/execution, and behavioral. The content itself matched expectations, but what stood out was how dependent the experience was on the interviewer, especially in the second round where I felt one person was biasing me toward a specific path without really saying it outright. I had about 2 to 3 weeks between rounds, and Meta seemed flexible on scheduling, which helped with prep. I didn't make it to team matching. My read is that Meta's PM process is very structured, but your experience can still vary a lot based on the interviewer. It really did feel like the weather where you don't know if you're getting a sunny day or a rainy day, so I wouldn't assume every interviewer will be equally neutral. They also don't give much useful feedback afterward, so a lot of your learning has to come from your own reflection and prep. One thing I did like is that the process didn't feel tied to one urgent req since team matching comes after, so there seemed to be flexibility to push interviews out if I needed more time to prepare.

Interview tips
I'd tell a friend to really know the Meta framework cold, especially for product sense. Be extremely clear on user segmentation, don't make random assumptions, prioritize pain points fast, and be able to explain exactly why you chose that user segment, pain point, or solution. For analytical questions, practice defining metrics from scratch and always have guardrails and counter metrics ready. Also do as many mocks as you can, because a lot of these questions can sound simple but feel very different under pressure. And for behavioral, have a real story bank written out so you can be concise instead of rambling.
Questions asked
Overview
The second round was the full product loop: product sense, analytical/execution, and behavioral. Structurally it was what I expected, but this was the round where interviewer style mattered a lot more. One interviewer felt like they had a specific framework or path in mind and kept nudging me that way, which I found hard because I expected a more neutral evaluation.
Question types asked
Specific questions asked
Should this be built on a specific Meta platform, or can it be a completely different solution?
I first asked a clarifying question on whether they wanted the solution on a specific Meta platform or whether I should think more broadly. Once they clarified that it could be built on an existing Meta platform, I chose Facebook as the initial platform and built from there. This was one of the questions where I felt interviewer steering more strongly, which made it harder to follow my own path cleanly.
I approached this the same general way as the Reels question by thinking through the product context, the key stakeholders, and then what single metric best captured success, along with supporting guardrails. I don't think the question itself was unusual, but under pressure these metric questions can still throw you off if you haven't practiced enough.
