Solutions Architect
I was already exhausted by the time I reached the final Amazon loop interview. While I was expecting questions focused on role-play and Leadership Principles, I was instead asked hypothetical scenarios such as designing a ticketing system, digitalizing a bank with legacy data, and creating a three-tier architecture. Unfortunately, I made a mistake. Having been ill two days prior and still feeling the effects, I lost focus and went straight into architecture design instead of following a structured approach. What I should have done was treat the interviewer as a customer, ask clarifying questions, and then build my answers step by step. Instead, I skipped that process, and the interviewer kept rephrasing the question every 20–25 seconds. Under that pressure, I struggled, and in the end, I did not perform at the level I had hoped for, which hurt my chances in that interview.
- How would you design a large-scale ticketing system that can handle millions of users during peak events (e.g., Black Friday)?
- How would digitalize a bank with legacy data?
- How would you design a three-tier architecture?
- Tell me about a time when you designed a complex system architecture. What was your approach?
