Google Cloud FDEs are “embedded builders” who code, debug, and ship bespoke agentic solutions inside customer environments, with direct access to DeepMind engineering. A separate DeepMind FDE track embeds with strategic partners on evals and frontier deployments.

FDEs predate the 2026 push, but Thomas Kurian is now scaling an “AI deployment army” backed by a $750M partner commitment.

Worth knowing: Google Cloud’s CEO personally recruits FDEs on stage — and it’s the only company with public per-level FDE pay bands.
